Funding – how we provide free energy upgrades

At Warmify, we help people across England and Wales get free energy-saving home improvements—from loft insulation to boiler replacements—through government-backed funding schemes.

If you're eligible, the full cost of your upgrade is paid for by the government or through major energy providers. That means no loans, no hidden fees, and nothing for you to pay.

Where does the funding come from?

We deliver upgrades through a range of trusted national and local schemes, including:

• ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation)  A nationwide scheme funded by the UK’s largest energy companies to reduce carbon emissions and help people heat their homes affordably.

• ECO Flex An extension of ECO4 that allows local councils to offer help to households who don’t receive benefits but still need support.
• Connected for Warmth A national programme offering fully funded insulation and heating upgrades to qualifying households.
• LEAP (Local Energy Advice Partnership) Offers free home energy advice and referrals to funded upgrades for vulnerable or low-income households.
• Warm Home Local Grant A local government scheme currently available in selected areas, such as Portsmouth and Oxford, providing targeted support for eligible households.

These schemes are designed to improve energy efficiency, tackle fuel poverty, and support the UK’s net zero targets. Warmify brings them together in one place to make accessing them simple.

Who qualifies for funding?

You could be eligible for fully funded upgrades if:

• You live in England or Wales
• You own your home or rent privately (with your landlord’s permission)
• Your home has a low EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating
• You receive a means-tested benefit, are on a low income, or have a health condition affected by the cold
• You live in a postcode identified as eligible or have been referred through a local authority scheme

Do I have to repay the funding?

No. This isn’t a loan or a pay-later scheme. If you qualify, the funding covers 100% of the cost of your upgrades, and you don’t have to pay anything back now or in the future.
