What is the Warm Home Local Grant?


The Warm Home Local Grant is part of the UK’s plan to improve energy efficiency and reduce fuel poverty. It’s delivered by local authorities and funded by the government.


The grant covers a wide range of energy-saving home improvements for households that need extra support with heating and energy costs.


All upgrades are fully funded—there are no costs to you if you’re eligible.

Who is eligible for the Warm Home Local Grant?


The grant is designed to support people who are most at risk of struggling with high energy bills. You may qualify if:

  • You live in England or Wales
  • You’re a homeowner or rent privately (with landlord permission)
  • Your home has an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating of D, E, F or G
  • Your total gross household income is under £36,000 or your income after housing costs is under £20,000
  • Or, you receive a qualifying means-tested benefit (like Universal Credit, Income Support, or Tax Credits)
  • You live in a local area identified as needing support (we’ll help check this for you)

What is the eligibility criteria for landlords?

Landlords can also benefit from the scheme by supporting their tenants to access the grant. You may be eligible if:

  • Your rental property is in England or Wales
  • The tenant meets the same income or benefit criteria as above
  • The property has an EPC rating of D to G
  • You provide permission for the work to go ahead

Note: Landlords must not charge tenants for any of the improvements delivered through the grant.
